Angus Fender to Race BMW M6 GT3 for Remaining Two British GT Rounds
After the first 5 rounds in the BMW M4 GT4 of the 2019 British GT Championship, I'm elated to be racing in the bigger, faster, BMW M6 GT3 for the remaining 2 rounds of the 2019 season having been promoted by Century Motorsport after the race at Spa.
This change in car and class sees me partner 2018 British GT GT4 champion, Jack Mitchell and I'm looking forward to learning off of him for the rest of the season. For sure, it's a big challenge stepping up from a GT4 car with 450 BHP to a full-on, 600 BHP GT3 race car with significantly more aerodynamic and mechanical grip to go with it.
Of course, this simply wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for all my amazing sponsors. My rate of progression has been astonishingly fast since 2016, where I first drove a race car to now being in the very top echelon of GT racing on a national, and international level just over 3 years later. I said at the start of the season that "Racing in a championship such as British GT has always been in the game plan for me. 2019 is a chance for me to pit myself against the best in the country, and dare I say the world whilst being in the eye of the big manufacturers." Well, now's my chance, partnering a proven driver, this is an amazing opportunity to show the big teams and brands what I can do, and I'm unbelievably excited to roll out of the pits at Brands Hatch in this weapon in just 24 hours' time.
